As I gaze out the window at the lights that illuminate Bristol, I sit and wonder about the world. My mind is full of ideas and passing thoughts rushing around at a thousand miles and hour. I was always told I had an overactive imagination; my vivd dreams and nightmares can testify to that. As the steam of my cup of tea evaporates, the lights get brighter as the night draws in. I remember being a young boy and my dad reading me Harry Potter while I was tucked up in bed, filling my mind with images of wizards, owls and everything else in the Potter universe. That was the spark that ignited the fire.
Welcome everyone, to my blog! First, let me introduce myself. I'm Tom a 20 year old student currently studying for my BA(Hons) Music Production in the wonderfully quirky city of Bristol in South West England! My main love is music, however as this blog suggests I enjoy history, literature and beer just as much. I was encouraged to start this blog by my good friend Emma (a.k.a pettitthehero, you can check out her awesome blog here http://pettitthehero.wixsite.com/pettit-the-hero) to share my interests and fill my spare time with something productive and enjoyable. So, here it is!
In my short 20 years I like to think I have lived a thousand lives through reading and my time spent living in Germany helped form me into the person I am today. My aim in life is to learn as much as I can and to help others along the way, whilst making the best music I can. I have been known to just be a knowledge sponge, soaking up any quirky and weird facts, only to recite them at the most random of times. The origin of the blog name however, comes from a friend of mine. With my surname being Fordham and their knowledge of my love for vikings and Tolkien's dwarves he nicknamed me Fjordhammer. With the growth of my beard and physical stature it suits me rather well if I say so myself!
As much as I enjoy the creative side to life, I have also enjoyed the rewards that playing and coaching rugby have given me. I have been rugby mad ever since I watched England win the 2003 World Cup Final and when I first started playing it at school in Year 7. Since then it has enveloped my life, it is my fault the rest of my family are hugely passionate about it too! It taught and still teaches me the values of life; Teamwork, respect, enjoyment and discipline. So, do not be surprised to find a rugby post every now and again!
The content of this blog will hopefully make you think, inspire you or help you in some way shape or form. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it. Much love!
"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it." - Steve Jobs
